In 1958, President Dwight D. Eisenhower established Law Day to honor the principles of government under the rule of law. In 1961, Congress officially designated May 1 as Law Day, a tradition that continues to this day. This year’s Law Day theme is “Voices of Democracy,” celebrating citizens’ rights to express political views and govern.
